Instinctively you might think that fine ends would be faster as they would cut through the water better. Catamarans are a class of boat that has two hulls generally equal in size. Catamarans when heavily loaded can sink into the water until the top of the tunnel begins to hit the waves.
Of course the larger the boat the narrower the hulls will become in comparison to its length.
